Stereo Clips Broken!
 

I just bought an 01 AR knowing that the stereo did not work. It does not even power on. So I went to a stereo shop and bought the keys that are used to get the radio out, but they all seem to be broken. I got a tech out to help who has removed "millions" of VW/Audi radios and he said that the clips were toast.

Does anyone have any tips on dash / ashtray / climate control unit removal? I am going to try to start hacking away until I can get the stereo out, but interiors usually give me trouble. Nuts and bolts I can handle, but all the little clips and things made from plastic usually do not fare well.

I am most interested in getting the button panel above the stereo out (has ride height control, hazzard lights, and cup holder)

and the ashtray / climate control out.
