tranny problem petition

In view of tranny failures reported below, I found a petition site:
http://www.petitiononline.com/ARTIP/petition.html
My allroad has the second problem described above: the gear does not shift between 10-30mph.
But only when the car starts (no matter whether it is winter or summer) after longer than about 6hr parking, though the gear begins to shift in 2-3 min driving. Also it does not occur at stop signs or traffic light stops.
I wish Lexus or Acura built Audi.

(10/27) I had Audi to diagnose the problem (still within 6 yr powertrain factory warranty). The mechanic told me everything is normal (checked computer inside the car; audi bullentins do not mention any). 2004 allroad in the dealer lot does the same. His hunch is that catalyctic converter needs sufficiently high temperature to function properly. There is a temperature sensor on each converter, which may set the 1st->2nd shift rpm higher when cold. I gather it is normal.

I just bought a 2002 Audi Allroad with 63000 miles on it and I'm experiencing the same problem. Did you ever get it fixed?

Can you describe more details of 'same problem'? Slow shift in 10-20mi occurs all the time or, like me, just when the car is cold? I am still within certified warranty and am going to Audi dealer soon.

Sorry! Responded to yahoo email...

Yes, slow to shift in the 10-20mph range for the first 5 or 10 minutes. Seems to happen almost everytime I start the car and drive now. Also, sounds like the engine is running at a higher rpm when thishappens. I've beenmanually shifting, to keep the rpm's down, until it goes away.I bought an extended warranty. Hopefully, they can resolve the problem without it costing me an arm and leg.
