Default Water Pump Gone

So, the thread below this was my advice/help one on my car overheating. Well i just heard from the mechanic today, they thought it might be the thermostat. They tried pumping fluids thru and got them thru at high rpm, but not low, so he said the impeller is broken on the water pump.

So either tomorrow or thursday ill have the water pump and timing belt replaced. wasnt looking forward to doing it at this moment, since my term literally just started yesterday. But o well, car sits dead where its at. plus its time, its got 92,xxx miles on it and i knew the timing belt would need to be done sooner or later anyways.

o well, im stressed as hell now cuz i gotta find a way to pay a grand-ish for this service, plus keep going for the rest of the term. dam this downpour instead of rain.

Buy an entire repair kit from www.ecstuning.com and save yourself some money. The timing belt/water pump should have been done at the 80k mark anyway.

Make sure the shop is okay with that. Sometimes when a shop quotes a job, and you then bring your own parts they either won't do it or increase the labor rate to cover the profit they have lost on you supplying your own parts.

i have heard 500 different things about when the water pump/timing belt should have been replaced haha
the owners manual says 105,000 miles.
you say 80,000 miles
the shop said 90,000 miles
how is a person supposed to know anyways, i bought the car at 84,000 so i would have gotten it done anyways at the 80 mark.

where would i find the repait kit btw. i searched under the engine/coolant stuff and didnt see it?

So i just walked over to the shop, its 2 blocks away from my townhouse in the college town i live in. They are doing the water pump, thermostat, timing belt, cam seals (ive been smelling oil burning every once in awhile and they said its slightly leaking on the exhaust) so thatll be fixed, and some other lil $7 seal, at that point i was spacing cuz i gotta scrounge up 1200 ish dollars now at the most. awesome, lovely this happens at the start of the term. o well. my problems not yours.

The dealer recommends 105k in your service manual but that has changed to 80k at the dealer because of so many snapped timing belts. The dealer got tired of paying for engine damage.

haha that is exactly what me the shop that is doing the work told me about 3 hours ago when i walked over there to see what the damage will be. they said when it was listed at 105,000 peeps would wait till closer to 125,000 and then its too late.

$1183.65
water pump (which blew), timing belt kit, cam seals, and whatever else they did.

and the temp gauge STILL skyrocketed when i drove it away. so the mechanic i prolly fried the sensor then the car was overheated, so he said he'll order a new sensor and put it in at no cost for me tomorrow. fairly nice i'd say.

GOOD price, moron mechanic.
Take the cap of the coolant expansion tank and let the engine run, you experinced what is called a burp or hic up in the coolant system. When an air bubble is in the cooling system and it hits the ECT sensor the temp on the gauge will fly up at bullet speeds.

ok. ill try that, becuase all day today ive actually noticed the temp gauge doing EXACTLY what it did before i took it in to them. It heats way the hell up while driving aroind in town, but on the highway it cools off slightly, not back down to normal, but one notch away, whereas in town driving it is up one notch away from the 'H'
