Software and updates are free from Ross-Tech website, and the license to use that transfers with the dongle. Runs on at least Windows 7 and Windows XP. The Ross-Tech tech support to install and operate the dongle will be extra from Ross-Tech *if* you need it. I had it and didn't need it.

Be sure that it works with your vehicle - this cable runs one of the older Audi protocols.
