98 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8

So I want to put new tires and rims on my car. I want to go up to 17's but before i do i need to know some things.

1. What is the maximum tire size I can go up before I have to start adjusting other things? (currently have 15's)

2. I am looking for a nice black rim. Something smooth looking. All back I don't want any chrome edges on the outside. Just a nice all black Gloss rims. Other than that open to all suggestions. Please let me know
