Default Oil change and/or check on an A2

I have a variable mileage Audi A2 1.4 TDI. I have had it for four and a half years now.

After its second service and into its third miles to next service period. The miles to next service indicator, was at first very erratic (which it had never been on the previous 2 occasions), but has now quickly settling down to an unusually low mileage, when compared to the previous times.

I have taken the car back to my Audi dealer at Hitchin (who also did the service) and they checked the engine management unit to make sure the oil parameters were set correctly. They concluded that they were. And told me that my driving style or pattern must have changed.

I have been driving for some 28 years and my driving style has not changed for some 10 years at least. My driving pattern has not changed for 3 years since I last changed my job and so includes the period since the previous service some two and a half years ago. Taking Audi Hitchin at their word, means that something with the oil must be amiss.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has had similar experiences, or could tell me how I can have the oil type checked by an independent and reputable organisation, or how I can change the oil myself (either at home or at some garage that would offer that facility).

I live in Hertfordshire in the UK.

Regards
Richard
