** Immediate Help Needed!!** Spring Install, 2006 A3...
1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to install Euro S-Line springs into my 06 A3 2.0T. I've done this before on several cars, so I'm pretty familiar with the process... I have the strut about 95% out of the socket that it sits in. See this picture for the socket I'm talking about (This is from someone elses install)
Attachment 38652 THe problem is, I cant seem to get the assembly pushed down far enough to release the strut completely. The whole piece the socket is part of is hitting the sway bar and pretty much can't go any further down. 1) Yes I've disconnected the sway bar link from the strut itself. 2) I've even unbolted the lower ball-socket from the lower a-arm. 3) I've loosened the drive shaft bolt -- but not completely taken it out. I'm stuck right now and could use some help ASAP. I'll get some pictures in a few minutes.. |
Ok, I actually got it all done.. Found out that you have to disconnect the sway bar on both sides of the car at once for it to move down enough to allow the strut to come out. Ugh.
Now I have a question ... since I had loosened the bolt holding the axle in on the passenger side, how much do I tighten it now? I havnt driven the car yet, and just have that bolt "lightly" tightened for the time being. I also noticed that while turning the steering wheel I'm hearing some kind of light popping or creaking noise. I'm guessing a bolt somewhere is loose, but I swear I tightened them all -- could that be the axle bolt being loose-ish? |
Ugh fixed it. On the driver side, I forgot that i loosened (but didnt disconnect) the 3 bolts holding the lower ball joint on. Stupid me.
All fixed now, and driving great! |
Congratulations...Just couldn't let you post to yourself any longer.
