Default 15" tires on a3

I would like to put on cheaper almost new 15' winter tires on a 2006. Can't afford 17" ones. Does anyone know if there is enough clearence with them or 16" ones or does it send the suspension out of wack?

do you have 15" wheels? You can't just magically go from a 17" tire to a 15" tire.

no i don't have 15" wheels but i can get almost new rims and rubber for a relatively good price where as 17" winter rubber is very expensive. I guess i didn't consider this problem when i was budgeting the a3.

I don't think you can do 15's, but you CAN most certainly do 16's. Pretty good prices on wheel tire combos at tirerack

Like AManCalledE says, 16 inch steelies and 205/55's are fairly reasonable at Tirerack and will tremendously help your car get around in the snow.

15" is a significant reduction. You would have to have extra large tires to make up for the room your downsizing i think. You wont have a problem going to 16" with winters, because they make up for the lower profile tires on the 17"s.

Anyways, Im doin 16"s this winter. Check tirerack as above or tiretrends.com for those in canada....

I don't think 15" wheels will clear the front brake calipers unless you want them to stick way out.

yeah 15's wont clear. I'm just going to spend the 400 for winter tires and put them on my stock 17's and the when the winter ends and I have put away some extra cash. UPGRADING to 18's for the spring summer.
