19" Wheels + Upgrade ECU Question (TFSI engine)
Hello guys, im new to this forum. Im sure like all you here i LOVE my Audi, even made a website about it.
It can be found here: http://www.audia3turbo.com
I have the 2.0 TFSI engine, and i have a question about this.
I have heard that the official Audi dealer can tune this ECU to about 45BHP extra. Is this true? If so how much does this cost, and how much performance do i gain? Is there a big downside to doing this?
Also, atm im rolling on 18" Audi wheels, which im happy with, but i would like to go upto 19" some time soon.
Does this affect the ride much, also does this affect topspeed/acceleration?
Thanks very much!

RE: 19" Wheels + Upgrade ECU Question (TFSI engine)
There are tuning companies that can boost the horsepower such as GIAC, APR, REVO. I've never heard of an official Audi dealer doing this but I'm sure they can. Typical cost is around $500 to $600 plus switchable programs if desired. I got better gas mileage, much more power and incredible torque after the ECU flash. Oh....and a smile on my face that is hard to wipe off. [sm=burnout.gif]
Many have 19's here but you will sacrifice "some" ride comfort with less sidewall. I'm not sure about performance.

I went with GIAC but they are all good and even better with a 3" downpipe and a cold air intake which pushes up the horsies even more. That is called Stage II. For me, those are coming.

IMO, the 19's will be a bit harsh. I'm running on the stock 17" rims and coilovers, and the ride is at the limit of my daily driving comfort.
GIAC, APR, and REVO produce a good software "chip" for our cars. All three are very similar in boost, but each has its own feel. The exhaust downpipe will give another decent gain in power, then the CAI will help it breath better too.
Do some reading through the NooB post and you'll come up to pace quickly.
Cheers!

BTW, there are a nice set of BBS rims for an A3 on Ebay right now. Just search "Audi A3" and it is a couple pages down on the list. Sorry but I don't have time now to fetch the link for you.
Cheers!
