2007 A3 2.0T Coil Pack failure
I got my car back from the dealership after spending much of the morning on shoulder of the PA Turnpike waiting for a tow truck to arrive. Bad Ignition coil pack... result of which was my car spontaneously transforming from a 4-cylinder to a 3-cylinder while merging onto the highway. Instantaneously, 2/3 of my engine power evaporated and the engine began shuddering horribly. Pulled over out of traffic immediately, and got a tow to dealership (called Audi Roadside Assistance, took 2-1/2 hours for tow truck to finally show up on a sunny morning with no inclement weather...).
All 4 coil packs were replaced under warranty. Just a call out that I wouldn't dilly-dally too much if you got the Ignition Coil Inspection notice in the mail... -Jeff |
same exact thing happened to my Mom in her 06 Passat 2.0T. I got the letter but haven't had problems (yet).

This happened to me last week on the GTI. Cyl #2 coil. I drove it super shimmy style with no power to the dealer myself. It was dog slow and I had to wind up all the gears just to get to speed. It was bad.

Same thing happened to me on Sunday afternoon on my 2006 A3 2.0T. Got it towed back to the dealership. #1 cylinder not firing, coil pack, recall, and so on.
The best part? I bought it on Saturday night. |
