2012 A3 - Need some help resetting service reminder, yes I've searched!
After changing the oil on my 2012 Audi A3 at 15,000 miles I can't get the "Service!" reminder to reset. I've done A LOT of searching online and trying the procedure in the owner's manual. I can't get it to clear the service reminder.
I've tried pulling the odometer reset stalk, waiting for service indicator then pulling again. And then as manual states pushing the reset button on the right stalk. And a variety of other permutations along those lines.
Anybody here have any suggestions or tips?

"Switch the ingition on.
When the **** in fig. 16 is pulled (right side of info display) this message appears:
SERVICE!
Pull the (same) **** until the display SERVICE IN MI(KM) --- DAYS appears in the display. If the reset button is not pushed in 5 seconds, the display mode closes."
So in the last sentence, I believe you hit the reset button to reset within 5 seconds.

The service manager at my dealership is very nice and he reset it for me yesterday. He also told me that despite what the manual reads, you cannot reset the oil change service indicator without the OBDII reader they use.
I am going to call Audi of America when I get a chance to confirm or deny this.
I have tried the "Torque" program with a bluetooth phone and while it reads quite a bit of data from my Audi it won't read or clear that oil change service reminder.
I'm looking at some less expensive tools on Amazon and e-bay that are being sold to specifically reset the oil change indicator. I've been e-mailing various sellers if their tool will work with my car and so far only one has replied with "no, your car is too new."
I will update this thread as I obtain more information.
What's a guy gotta do just to change the oil on his car?
My wife recently got a 2013 Q5 and while there is a option in the dash display that actually says "reset oil change" I'm even wondering if that will work. Seems like Audi wants full control of all service.
