Question 9JA Non-Smoking Pack question

Hi all

I'm in the process of ordering my new A3 and had a question about the placement of the 12v socket in the 9JA Non-smoking pack. The brochure says it replaces the ashtray with a storage cubby and the cigarette lighter with a 12v socket.

But, does it leave the 12v socket where the cigarette lighter is - in its currently fairly useless place next to the hand brake - half way down the centre of the car? Or does it move it closer to the dash in the storage cubby?

My TomTom needs somewhere to plug in - and having the cable trailing half way across the car into the centre arm console is ridiculous.

Any one know?
Thanks
Hank

I don't know about the Eurospec version, but in the US A3, there isn't an outlet near the cubby. Instead, two 12V outlets & the auxiliary input for the sound system are located on the rear portion of the console, under the armrest and behind a sliding door.

Ok, thanks for that info.

I wonder how people power any dash/screen mounted gadgets then - SatNav being the obvious one I guess? << Mostly rhetorical but ideas welcomed.

Thanks
Hank
