A3 3.2 Check Engine Light on again!
 

I picked up a 2006 A3 3.2 Quattro DSG with 67000km for my wife last month. Aside from the somewhat squeaky suspension and rough DSG take off, the car was fine until last week when the check engine light came on. So I took it in to my local dealership for service as it is still under warranty (not for long). I was told the O2 sensor was faulty and the service advisor recommended against from driving the car. The dealership kept the car over the weekend because they could not get a new O2 sensor delivered quick enough. I asked for a loaner and the service advisor gave me an 2009 A6 3.0T loaner for the weekend :) Not bad for customer service I thought!
So I picked up my car this Tuesday and was told everything was checked out. All the recall and update were done so the car was good to go. One day later, the dreaded Check Engine Light came on again! Now I have to re-book another appointment to find out what's going on! This is my first Audi and the feelings about the ownership are mixed. I don't like the fact that I have to go to the dealership two weeks in a row. The positive of this is the CEL came on while it is still under warranty so I don't have to pay for the service. However, this is still a bit too much maintenance than I would like. Sorry for the venting. Cheers,

Still you get to drive an A6 in the meantime, so really not that bad is it?

lol. I just dropped off my A3 to get a new radiator (was leaking) and got a 2010 A4 with only 2k on the clock as the loaner for the weekend!

I think they're trying to tempt me to upgrade.

Can't complain about the A6 loaner, but the annoyance of servicing the A3 that frequent still gets to me.

There is only one Audi dealership in my city. It takes a combined 2 hours to drive to the dealership and ride the shuttle bus around town before they can drop me off at work. Definitely this is something I don't want to do on a regular basis. I have better things to do!

I was told today that the catalytic converter and the other O2 sensor need to be replaced... so the car is in the shop overnight again.
Even though I don't like the frequent servicing, the timing of these failures are impeccable as the warranty is going to expire in ONE month!

At least these are things you won't need to pay for.
