A3 8L funny running

Hi all!
First post here, so here goes:

Just joined the Audi family. Its a 98 a3 1.6 with 95000km on the clock. Its mint condition with all the services taken at a qualified Audi garage.
Sometimes when the car running the temp between 0 and 90 degrees it can idle eratic between 1500 and 2000rpm. And it has occasionally stalled to. When it does its very hard to get it started. It takes at least three or four attempts to get fired up. Other than that it runs great, no powerloss etc etc. and the gas usage is normal. Im suspecting a temp sensor but im new to audis, so i dont know where to look. It happens more often when i have driven the car, then drive it again when it only has cooled for a bit. Its a frustrating error and the garage dont have time to run a diagnostics test before 7march.

Yeah I would start with the coolant temp sensor, then maybe the MAF?

Thanx man,

Will do. Would it do anything to clean the maf sensor? Or do i have to change it?
