A3 After market radio update!!!
Hello everyone,
I just managed to get my Kenwood DNX 5180 Nav unit installed. Took me weeks of research and finding the right stuff. Here is an exact list of items you will need to replace the OEM Concert radio. Yes, crutchfield was no help nor was metra. Everyone kept saying the Concert radio could not be upgraded. However, they are all wrong!!! 1) the bezel : $39.99 Metra 99-9104 will fit perfectly into an A3 with a concert radion "double din" Only mod is to remove the divider in the middle of the bezel. This bezel is sold as a single din model. Metra said it would not work in my model. 2) is the C2R-audi PAC cable: $130.00 This was just all plug and play into the oem harness. 3)FM radio antenna adapter. (Euro adapter) $14 4) Satellite antenna extender cable $20.00 Everything was straight forward and no VAG changes were needed. The biggest tip was something I found on another audi site. The rear speakes need to be plugged into the new HU at the sub-pre outs and not the rear speakers pre-out. I was only getting bass from the rear speakers when I used the rear speakers out. Once I flipped this connection, the rear speakers sounded perfected. Something about the amp in the rear not liking the power from the HU. http://home.comcast.net/~sbrice36/au...2013.49.51.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~sbrice36/au...5 13.49.38.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~sbrice36aud...5 13.33.40.jpg Here are some pics taken today! |
