My mate bought an Audi a3 1.8 turbo 2001. When he bought the car at first the central locking didn't work. We bought a new central locking pump changed it for a second hand one with the same code on the side . when we tried it, it fired up for about 1sec and now the . central locking doesn't
work, the electric windows don't work and the alarm wont arm. and the old pump was binned so repairing that is no longer an option which i know now might have saved a lot of hassle.
I don't know if this is relevant but at the fuse box under the bonnet, it looks as if there has been some sort of repair where there is 3 red wires running from battery, the 3rd one (one on the right) has definitely been replaced at some point.

any ideas , any help will be much appreciated
