A3 Cooling Fan
 

The cooling fan on my 1998 A3 sezed up and burnt out yesterday. As I'm looking to sell the car very soon I'd rather not buy a new part.

Therfore, I took a trip to the local Scrap Heap, where I found a number of A3's unfortuantly they all either had no radiator or had the dual fan assembly. Upon inspection the Larger of the fans on the dual would fit the mounting points on my single fan radiator and the connector has the same "Fit" but has an extra pin. the motor is also slightly deeper. Any chance I could use this in my car?

Have run some test, turns out the fan in a A3 1.6 is single speed but bigger models have a dual speed fan. Even thought the car came out the factory with a two pin fan the wiring loom supports the dual speed three pin fan.

Spare from the local scrap heap £12 fitted in 5 minutes problem solved. No I can get back to selling the car.

Anyone fancy a 11 yr old A3???
