Hello,

I am in the market for a a3 and have come across an a3 s-line abt with 70k miles that I am interested in buying.

Any insight on some common problems for this model of car, things to look for etc would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone have any experience with the ABT model?

I have no knowledge about the ABT model. But if you write down the year of the car you are considering it might help point out some common faults for that model/year ;)

Sorry for the lack of detail. The car is a 2006 a3 2.0t s-line ABT. Here is the information I was able to gather about the ABT tuning package: the 2.0 TSI provides 240HP (177kW) as opposed to the 200HP (147kW) Exterior mods on the ABT AS3 Audi A3 include a modified bonnet, grill, new LEDs, a new front spoiler, side skirts and fender inserts plus a new rear apron. The ABT AS3 Audi A3 has also received custom Sports alloys available in 18 or 19 inch.

If it's a 2006, it's an FSI engine, not a TSI (or TFSI). Especially with the ABT tune on it, you should check the dv, the pcv, the cam follower, and fuel pump for starters. with that many miles, you should also look for carbon build-up (which costs a couple hundred $s to clean properly). also, some 2006 a3's had issues with the AC compressor.
