A3 suspension ? already searched!
Hello:
I thought I introduce My self. I don't currently own an A3 but have driven my friends wifes car and I was impressed with it. I have been looking to buy a new car I think I have settle on the A3. I have searched (also read the A3 newby tread)and I am familiar with the spring, shock, coilovers, and swaybar options for the A3, I even saw a rear strut bar and sub frame reinforcement somewhere. I plan on this being my DD bit I would also like to take it to track days and autoX events. My concern is that I have not seen any camber correction solutions. I was wondering are there any? Does the factory adjustment allow for enough adjustment to put a competitive alignment? Any info you guys can provide would be great. TIA!

I don't remember this question being discussed yet. Maybe a call to one of the better tuner shops will yield better answers.Nobody I knowhere has made the A3 a serious track car yet. Several have taken them on the track, but most are daily drivers and nobody's gone to that extreme. I know that I can tighten the coilovers all the way and the car is stiff as hell. With the RSB, the car doesn't budge at all around corners, but you feel the rubber on the tires sliding and giving way at the extremes.
Cheers!

If you are going to AX first decide what class - in GStock you'll be limited to shocks and a catback plus a front swaybay and crashbolts. You will also drop $2200+ on a set of competitive wheels (OZ Ultaleggeras preferred)and Hoosier A6 or Kumho v710s. Go 245/40-17 Hoosier and use wheels with no more than a 45MM offset to maintain clearance.
In STS you can go yard withcoilover & swaybarsuspension mods, but you are limited to 225 tires on 7 1/2" rims Falken or Bridgestone RE-01R. You will get killed by 89 Civics in this class.
In STX has the same suspension rules plus you can go to a 245 UTQG 140 tire, but don't even try to get a 245/45-17 to fit. Best bets would be a 235/40-17 Falken RT-615 or the Bridgestone. You can also chip in ST classes and run catbacks, & downpipes and make lots of other mods andLSDs. You will compete against Subarus mostly, with a few 3-Series BMWs thrown in. You might be competitive here with a fully prepped car.
Above that is Street Prepared, which is getting pretty serious. Take a fully prepped STU car and add the Hoosier tire/wheel setup from the stock class. This is the E36 BMW 325 playground class. The A3 is quicker and has FWD, but the BMWs at this level are hard to beat.
And above that is Street Mod. This is a cubic money class. Unless you have lots, don't even bother.
