A3 TDI 1.9 (105) 2006 - burning oil ?
I have issue with my 2006 Audi (got it new).
Right now have 30000 km and due for service in few weeks, however the orange oil warning came up. After checking oil, it is low, low part of the 2 mark, not at bottom of the mark.
I had similar issue last year, where it went low on oil. There is no leak, as I would see some mark in my driveway. (got it serviced last year in the official dealership where I got it)
Looking at other forum and port, there seems to be a lot of issue with Audi A3 or A4 diesel (I think they have similar engine).
Another similar post https://www.audiforums.com/m_7326/tm.htm
Any idea? Is it a factory or design issue?

RE: A3 TDI 1.9 (105) 2006 - burning oil ?
Hi A3,
I drive a 170BHP 2.0 TDI. The car is still only about 6 months old, but there have been no problems with oil consumption.
The link you posted refers to the issue relating to FSI engines, not TDI engines, so it does not affect your car in any way. Audi/VW has made diesel engines for a long long time and TDI is a known leader in the technology, so I really don't think it is a design issue. I change the oil in my car every 7500km (due to driving conditions in Taiwan, hot, humid and stop and go) so I can't really comment on how long the oil should last. Diesels are called 'oil-burners' but that refers more to the viscosity of diesel than engine lubrication oil.
Search posts written by Shipo. He knows everything about oil and you could probably pick up great information! But remember, 99% of people on this board drive gas cars, so TDI is different.
You can go to TDIfans.com to get a LOT of information about diesel, but a lot of that info is also about the older TDIs that were imported into the US, not the later versions we have.
I would press the dealer for help.

Thanks for this clarification.
It is just I have owned diesel car for nearly 15 years and never had a problem with oil. I was always doing service once a year or less if I was doing mileage.
However none of these diesel were TDI, onlly standard diesel.
