Travelling at 15mph down a snow covered hill in 2nd gear to provide some braking, unfortunately even in 2nd I was still picking up too much speed so put into 1st gear and the engine raced as if on full throttle. The brakes were never touched as the road was too icy to benefit from them. I ended up in a feild at the bottom of the hill. I have been questioning myself but there is no way I would even touch the accelerator in this situation.

Has anybody heard or experienced this kind of thing before?

I've put 85,000 miles on my A3 and have never had anything like that happen. I'd get it in to the dealer pronto.

 

I went from 6th to 3rd and had that happen.
