Default Alternative iPod solution?

So it's about time to lose the FM transmitter, as well as the cassette adapter and get a real iPod set up. I've narrowed it down to two options (however, feel free to add your solutions, as well.)

What is everyone's thoughts on the Dice set up? I've read several reviews and it seems to be a great product. Seen here: http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s..._I_AUDI_R.html
What about Alpine's iPod solutions? Digital receivers? Here's a link to their headunits and receivers: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...category=AV_HU
Any recommendations would be a big help! Thanks!

Can you add a factory Ipod connection to a non Ipod one?? My car came with the Ipod connection in the glovebox but I do not need it, I never have used it and never will... Good thing about the factory one is that the name of the song is displayed in the LCD in dash.. But I am not sure what it takes to remove it and what it would take for you to install it..

i have a 08, but the ipod connection doesn't display any info on the screen. Only the mp3 CDs do display texts.

If only my '06 had an auxillary port I'd be perfectly content.[:@] However, it does not and I have to resort to spending hundreds of dollars on a kit to get my iPod satisfaction.

I have the Alpine 9885 installed, and I can't be more pleased. The functionality is really excellent. You can read reviews on CNET or go play with one at best buy (and bring your ipod with you). I chose it over the IDX line becase I wanted the CD player and FM presets.

Aesthetically, it looks great in the car, because the display buttons can be changed from blue to red and the text is white, so it fits in perfectly with the tach and speedo. (Although the buttons look a little bluish in bright sunlight.) If you are interested, the 9885 also has HD radio, bluetooth and auxiliary connection addons, so it can be more functional than the other solutions. (I had the aux in optionconnected so I could listen to music off my Treo.)

If you get an aftermarket, Alpine or other, be sure to grab one of these for a seamless install: https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.onean...dex.shopscript
Best $20 you'll spend.
And while you're there, get the extra cupholder too. Way more helpful than the tray. https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.onean...dex.shopscript
