Audi A3 1999 - Auto closing windows

Right, Im sure when i bought this car in the showroom that the electric windows closed when locking the car.

So if you used the remote central locking and the windows were down, theyd automatically come back up.

Now, I cant no matter what i try, get these to do this now - hence the rather wet car this morning, and sitting on a carrier bag....

Please, help me not get piles...

If you press the locking button on the remote and hold it down, the windows will close, and vice versa for the unlocking button.

If doing either of these has no effect, you might have to reset the windows' closed positions. If I remember correctly, this involves doing the following:

- Close each window using the button in the door
- Let go of the button
- Hold the button in the up position for a few seconds
- Release again

It tells you about this in the manual anyway.

Hope this helps.

RE: Audi A3 1999 - Auto closing windows

There have been known issues with this. My mother has a 2005 A3 and she came back to car park to find both windows down completely. The dealer said it's a problem which occurs ocassionally and there is no real fix other than to disable it which she had done, perhaps your dealer did this in a proactive move. I also know of another person with and A4 Avant who had the same problem.
