Does anyone know what the max bitrate can be on the mp3 files for this unit? Also ... I noticed the unit wont see more than 1 GB on a SD card. Can I expand this somehow? A firmware upgrade or something? Thanks!

I don't know what the max bit rate is, but from another thread I learned that the SanDisk Ultra II 2.0 GB works. I bought one and can confirm that it does work.

 

are you sure the unit sees all of the 2 gb of music? I know that these 2 gb chips work but they only see 1 gb of info. Is this the case with yours?

 

There is a limit on the number of files the RNS-E can see on the flash memory (512).

yeah it seems that my card doesnt exceed 512 files or folders though and its not showing all of the songs I know are there. hmmm ... I'll try some other tests I guess.

 

Do you have a mac? OSX generates a thumbnail for every file copied to the SD card and hence doubling the number of files.
However, as these are by default set to invisible you can't see them in the Finder.

 

I'm not sure it sees 1gb or 2gb. The chip has 356 songs on it, and I see the first and last one on it, as well as the largest and smallest. I don't see a way on the SD menu to check whether it is looking at 1 gb or 2 gb. Any ideas on how to check that are apprecited. There are hundreds of songs on there, which is much more than a 6 CD will play, and they don't skip over these bumpy roads we have around here.

 

Sandisk Ultra II 2GB card works. Never had a problem. I fill it up with hundreds of songs, I can see every one of them in the player. It's kinda funny to put it on "Mix", because sometimes it will play one from the top and then skip all the way to the bottom, scrolling all the song titles by on the screen for a few seconds. It's kinda distracting actually.
