Bluetooth link?

I have been thinking of getting either a bluetooth headset (jawbone) or going to audi and getting the bluetooth hooked up for about the same price, since by the end of the month we (toronto) will not be able to drive while using a cell phone not hands free, i wanted to get everyone's opinion on the system if you have it in our cars, does it work well? can the person hear you well? etc...

thanks for any answers

The BT functionality on my 2008 is pretty good. Sound quality is good (through the stereo) and mic pick is excellent. My phone syncs up right away without a problem. However, the voice recognition command component is not worth two shakes of dog's tail. Also dailing numbers is laborious using the the wheel controls, I just use the handset for that. One feature I do not like is that when an incoming call comes in, you can not stop your CD before accepting the call. I listen to Books on CD during my commute, so after the call, backing up on the CD is a PITA. I give the Audi BT system 7.5/10. YMMV

thanks for the info, do you know where the mic is? is it on the steering wheel? or somewhere else? also i wonder if there is a difference from the 06 system offered for my car to you're newer one.

Another Bluetooth alternative is the Motorola Motorokr T505. Here's the cnet.com review:

http://ecoustics-cnet.com.com/cell-p...ecoustics-cnet

This unit (about the size of garage door opener) clips to a sunvisor, and can transmit through the car radio on FM (or use the built-in speaker of the T505). The mic is in the unit, and listeners say I sound OK (not as good as using my Blackberry as handset). It uses the voice dialing of the handset (my BB is decent at that), and it announces incoming calls by number, not name. Except for pushing a button to start/answer/stop the call, the telephone function is hands-free once it is on and synched to the phone, which is quick.

What's also cool is that it can play music stored in the phone through the car speakers. I have a 4G microSD card filled with about 80 CD's (thanks to iTunes compression) in the BB and the music sound quality is certainly good enough for the noisy environment of a car interior. An incoming call automatically pauses the music when I'm using the SD card as source.

Battery life is excellent, and it uses the same mini-USB to charge as my BB. I'm quite pleased with it for less the $100.

Very happy with the BT in mine. Wasn't looking for it or excited about it until we bought it . But I love it now. Have been on both ends of BT calls from the A3 and its fine. Though I could tell my wife was on the BT, or in a conference room) I heard her clearly. I really like having it.
