Bonnet and Windscreen wash problems
 

Evening

So, I recently purchased a 2006 Audi A3 Sportback. Gave it a run round, got it for a super cheap price but need to put some work in.

Problem 1) The bonnet/hood opens and closes. However it does not lock. It WAS locked. I pulled the lever (which did not feel secure or in a mechanism) It seemed to open. I had a friend look at the hood mechanism when I pull the lever and there is no movement.
I can see a similar bike cable mechanism just behind the lever.

I will tug the cable with a pair of pliers to see if there is any movement. But by the looks of it, obviously if it wont lock I assume it is jammed.

Any pointers or tips would be welcome? Had a look through youtube but I cant seem to find much.

Problem 2) The windscreen washer does not work. No sound. Which is strange as it passed its MOT 4 days before the purchase.
There is windscreen wash in it. Just wondering if there is no sound of a motor any recommended tips or common faults? I would assume maybe a fuse/electrical fault/motor?


Also problem 3. The last car owner was a savage smoker and it f,in stinks. Any great tips for removing the smell???
