Hey, im new here and thinking of buying an A3, looking to spend up to about 15k.

Now the issue i have is do i buy the 2.0 TFSI (either s line or sport) or the 2.0 TDI (either s line or sport) 170PS.

I think i would like the petrol more as im used to petrols and do plan on modifying it.

However the issue is i drive around 26,000 miles a year so this is making me think the diesel.

The fuel costs are one thing but what i really want to know is how many miles on average are these modern petrol engines capable of?

I am only used to old cars pre 2000 and after about 60-70k a petrol is pretty much done which would make me go diesel. I have never owned an Audi before or anything post 2000, im thinking of buying about an 08 plate, how do the petrols compare to the diesels endurance wise these days?

Feel free to throw in anything else to convince me of the best option for me.
