Clutch problem with 2010 A3 S-Tronic which has failed for a 3rd time

Hi, my wife & i need some guidance regarding our 1.4litre A3 TFSI Audi 2010 . The transmission clutch is starting to fail for a 3rd time in 7 years, is sold by Audi as S-Tronic. Clutch was replaced at 22,000klms under warranty then at 26,000 plus the mechatronic unit replaced which was part of global recall. We have now done 50,000 k's on 3rd clutch and exactly the same problem has started to show up again. Because we are now out of warranty Audi are saying bad luck basically but will replace it. Can't give us an answer as to the sort of life expectancy. Surely we are not alone with this issue and surel we should get more than 50,000K's out of a clutch. Does anybody have any experience with this and dealing with Audi. We are based in Australia near Sydney and have owned the car since new. Need to get it sorted as we intend to keep car and don't want a repair bill every 50,000k's. Will check back here or please email us on: mad1@bigpond.net.au Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with the 1.4l engine on the A3 since the in the states they only have the 2.0t and bigger. However since you mentioned the mechatronic unit I assume you have an automatic. I'm also going to assume you have CVT since the 1.4 doesn't sound powerful enough for quattro (AWD) drive. CVT is what Audi/VW uses in front wheel driven cars with automatics and they are simply crap. I've never seen anyone pass 80k miles with a CVT before something broke (like on yours). There is nothing I'm aware of that will permanently fix this. I would trade it in and get a quattro tranny or switch to manual :)
