Coil overs or springs to lower a car?

Default Coil overs or springs to lower a car?
I wanna lower my A3 a bit but am not sure if I should go coil overs or just springs. Anybody have any input on past experience? Obviously I know the cost differences. I am just more concerned with the ride of the car.
