Cost of Maintenance?

So I was thinking of getting the maintenance contract.
Then again, my track record for keeping cars is only around 2 years, even though every time I say "i'm gonna keep this one for a while".
Does anyone know the cost of each individual scheduled service?
I'd like to break it down and see if the $590 upfront cost is worth the gamble for me.
All i know is that the first one is free.

Everything I have heard, from my dealer as well as on the forums, is that the service you get in the Audi Care plan for $590 would work out to approx. $800 if you paid for each service. Hope that helps.

Yes, thank you very much.
This is about what I've been hearing.
I'm not one to keep a car for 45k miles so I don't know if this is worth it to me when the potential savings is only around $200-250.
Especially when the majority of the work is just an oil and filter change!

Perhaps I'm wrong, but isn't the $800 value if you do the service all at the dealer? For two years I'm sure they estimate that you are going to drive something like 30K miles, which is an oil change at 5K, 15K, and 25K.
I think you can get these services much cheaper with a decent independant mechanic.

Yes, exactly.

You could do it yourself for much cheaper.
The only think you might want to have them do is the 35k service because that is when the dsg fluid needs to be changed.
The other services are mostly just the oil change and then checking over the rest of the car like tires, brakes, exhaust, potential leaks, top off fluids, etc.

Also, remember that the 35k mile service is the most expensive, and that's theservice point that makes the initial payment worthwhile.

Cheers!

The way i figured it out after talking to two different Audi service departments is that I would break even around the 35k. In other words, after paying for it I'd probably be just over the $600 point. Then the only other one is the 45k which is about $200.

Sure but since most of them are oil changes that can be done yourself for $50 in parts vs $200... this is what I need to decide. The $35k is around a $300 service, but the rest are around $200.
The choice comes down to whether or not you want to pay your service department for 20 minutes of real work and upcharged parts.
I am also contemplating rolling it into my payments. Just not sure if I want to bend over like that knowing that I'm really not getting much for my 6 benjamins.
And this is all based on the assumption that I would keep the car for at least 45k which i have never done yet.

RE: Cost of Maintenance?

I did not take the maintenance option, the idea of prepaying your maintentance, with interest, just did not seem quite right. Of course, I also don't pay for my maintenance since it is a company car, and not getting the maintenance/extended warranty let me put more toys on the car for my allowed budget!
