Default Dealer ECU Reflash

After learning of the dealer reflash of ECU's on this forum, I postponed my ECU upgrade waiting to hear from Audi or the dealer. I have heard nothing to date.

How did any of you learn of the Audi dealer ECU reflash? Did you receive notification from Audi or was it a surprisewhen you took your car in for service?

Thanks.

I have my 25k maintenance scheduled for Monday. I have not received any notification from Audi with regards to the ECU reflash, so we'll see what happens next week...[/align]

I'm almost positive that your local apr shop will reflash your ecy for free if the dealer reprograms your ecu.

Its just a flash for cold start miss-fires, if you don't want the flash done you have the right to deny the procedure.

The dealer WILL tell you that your car has an upgraded program, or ECU reflash. If you even balk at the idea of having that done, then they will ask if your car is chipped or "tuned". You might want to check with your software company to make sure that they have the newest software to update after the reflash.

Check my "Crappy Week" thread for people's experiences.

Cheers!

I just came back from my 35k service an hour ago and they did the I3 ECU update. It's listed as a "recall" item on the invoice. And I didn't get any advance info from Audi. I heard about it on some of the Audi forums first.

I'm not chipped yet, so the possiblity of losing my flash wasn't a factor. Car feels a little smoother. Some people have mentioned less throttle lag, but it may just be our butt dyno talking.

Invest in REVO and get SPS 1 or 2 then you don't have to worry about the dealer at all.

Can you expand on this? My A3 has been the first VAG car I've had that has proved a little difficult to start on a very cold morning. If the flash cures this then I don't mind.
