dilemma
 

hey guys

i love my 3.2 sportback.... but here is my dilemma. i really miss a turbo car, that crazy kick. the 3.2 has grunt and is still technically faster, but i miss that turbo kick.
i sometimes swop cars with my wife just to drive her volvo t5 (but its a rubbish car and im back in the audi quickly)
here in South Africa i cant find anyone who will chip the car for me and i dont know if thats going to be the solution.

so i thought ok lets wait for s3. will be with us here early 2007, but at our recent auto show i had a look at it and its great but when you look at the stats my car is
still quicker 0-100. sure it has 190 something kilowat which will give an insane kick but damn... is it really that much different? i dont think its worth it.

am i forced to look at maybe the rs4 as the only real step up from this car? or do i just learn to love my 3.2 more?

we are 1500 meters above sea level so i lose close to 10 percent of power in the 3.2. does a turbo lose more or less at altitude?
i also think my dsg is culprit here.... smoothing out the power so that you dont feel any kick after a gear change.

altitude would definitely effect the performance that's why its set up to where you are the BARO sensor does that and if it were bad you would loose lots of power and high fuel consumption ( it would throw a CEL ) if the sensor was bad but it might not be set up right and then no CEL just a power/fuel loss, VAG would be required as far as cars the RS4:)

Turbo cars are less affected by high altitudes. The 3.2 VR6 does not gain all that much by chipping. Don't put too much stock in the 0-100km/h numbers. A chipped 2.0T has about the same horsepower and more torque than a stock 3.2 VR6.

When comparing my 2.8 V6 versus 1.8 T I always find that the turbo is more fun ......its like the power is always there when you need it versus the V6 that you have to rev and watch the gas gauge go lower and lower! :D

You could look around for a used Audi with the 2.7T, that was a fun engine. The RS4 is very fast but it gets low MPG, the S4 is not bad but slightly better MPG. If you want the utilmate Audi S4 you need to go to Poland and get this guys Audi S4 which can do the quarter mile in 10 seconds!

thought i would try see some figures.... yeah i know you cant really test like this..


sit with my stopwatch in the car, floor it, best i can get is 0-100kmh in 10 secs... wtf. where is my claimed 6?
