I'm in the market for a 2011 - 2013 A3 TDI. I test drove one today and loved it. However, I want to be able to keep my 9' surfboard inside the car (not on top). Board needs to stay in the car while I'm at work and not get stolen off a rack. In other hatchbacks, the seats fold flat and you can shove the nose of the board right up onto the dashboard. However, on the 2011 A3 I drove today, the headrest didn't come off the front seat and the seats had so much angle to them that there was no way the board would fit. I'm wondering:
1) Has anyone figured out a way around this?
2) Is there any sort of aftermarket seat/kit to allow the seats to fold flatter?

I've answered my own question here. I was able to remove the headrest (though it's a bit tricky) and fit my 9' board in no problem.
