fuel guage faulty
 

anyone help my fuel guage on my a3 1.8t quattro sometimes says empty after filling, i can fill the tank park the car for a couple of hours start the engine and the fuel light comes onand vice versa it can be close to empty and show 3/4 of a tank at first i thought it was heavy on fuel.£30.00 will get me about 150 miles steady driving is this right??anyone give me advise please

Bad fuel sender for sure. I have a tutorial in the How-to section of this forum. It's for an A4 but i'm sure it is very similar for the A3.
