Help!!!!!! New A3 Owner (NJ)
Hello fellow A3 owners!
I live in NJ and I just got my new 2006 A3 2.0T, Lava Grey, 6MT, Sound, Navi, Sky, etc. (no xenon, boo hoo)
However, there seems to be some complications with my car.
Well, to be exact, I have complications with the process of getting my car.
My car is currently in West Virginia which is about 600 miles away from where I live.
My local dealer tried to get a truck down there and get my car up but no one is willing to do it.
The dealer says they have tried there best and could not come up with one.
Therefore, the dealer sent out someone to WV and he/she is driving it up all the way to NJ. (600 miles)
This is my first car and I do not know much about getting a car but it just seems a little odd.
When I get my car, it will be around 1000 miles on it.
What should I do about this matter?
Should I ask something in return for my 1000 miles of which I did not use any?
I just wanna hear what you guys would have done.
Oh, btw, cancelling the deal is not an option because I really need to have this car for commuting purpose.
Thanks alot!

Sounds like you have a very nice car on the way to you. Congratulations!
I would open up discussions with them on the subject. Did you pay extra to have the car delivered to you? The government rate is $.415 per mile I believe, which is about $250. What would you like them to do? Pay the money to you, provide you with services up to that amount, or additional merchandise? I suggest having them install a Sirrius satellite radio for the extra miles. Definitely worth it. That's my suggestion.
Make sure you chip that car sometime in the future. Absolutely amazing.
Cheers!

Hey Chef,
Thanks for your input. I'll def. consider your suggestion and mention that to the dealership.
BTW, I see that your A3 is chipped with Revo. I am more interested in Revo against APR just because the dealer is closer.
I've checked out the the websites for both APR and Revo and it seems like using Revo leads to greater output.
However, I'm just worried that adding a chip would conflict with the warranty.
At what miles did you get your chip?
Should I get it right away when I have the money? (I have the money for it now but not sure about the future haha)
Oh, and do you also need the SPS to go back and forth from stock to chipped mode?
*edit* most of my questions were answered in other threads. haha.
Once again, thanks for your input.

hey mc
congrats on your car, i'm pretty sure you can get extra things for your car if you talk to your dealer re: the 1000 miles, as for your chip, i'd wait til your 5000 mile mark like most of us did, your car need time to break in, and yeah, you need that switch for your two programs so that it won't void your warranty.
so NJ huh? the armpit of America..... hee hee. j/k i've been there, great place, especially your houses, lots of land, i did a job in one of those million dollar mansions out there.
welcome

Congrats on your car but at the same time be careful to do an inspection before driving off the lot.
I bought an 2006 Xterra in a similar situation as yours. However, I do not think the truck was babied as it was being delivered. Most of the cars being transferred between dealerships are done by lot porters. They get paid close to minimum wage and would give anything to drive a brand new car while getting paid to do so. Trust me on this one cause I used to be one
.
Anyways, just do a through inspection and a long test drive before taking it. And yes, you can get extras for the 1000 miles they put on it. On my xterra I asked for $300 in accessories (which probably cost the dealer $0.50) and had no problem getting those. As for chip, I jumped the gun on this on. I had GMG racing install my chip at the 700 mile mark and I'm currently at 3800 miles. Relazing how much fun the chip is I would've killed myself if I had installed it at the 5000 mile mark and wasting 5000 miles of possible fun!
BTW, ask for a oil change before taking it off the lot. I don't think Audi uses any detergents in the oil for break-in purposes but be sure to verify with them. You never know what those 1000 mystery miles were driven like.

oh yeah, i forgot, my audi mechanic (not from the dealer) told me that all audi's should change their oil at the 1000 marks to flush out the crap out of the car, so with your 1000 miles wasted, you should have the dealer do it for free, or just take it out to a certified audi mechanic and he'll do it for like 40 bucks. by the way, dealers use the sh*ty valvoline, but a few GOOD mechanics would only use Mobile 1
thanks again guys for all your inputs. I really appreciate them.
I will be picking up my car tomorrow. Pretty damn excited about it.
I hope there will be things I could contribute to this forum.
Oh yea Audinam, NJ is the armpit of america. haha. but as you said there are many nice houses.
I wonder where NJ got its nickname from.
Anyway, thanks again for your thoughts.
