Horrible Auto Gear Change
 

Hi Guys,

My girlfriend has just bought a 1998 A3 1.8T AUTO and it has a bit of an issue that has stumped 2 garages that we've taken it to - i've searched on here but couldn't find anything.
When the auto box changes (e.g. from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd etc), it kinda hesitates (maybe 1 second) and then bangs it into gear, so it feels like you get a shove in the back as it finds the gear.
It only does it on occasion, hot or cold, perhaps every 10th gear change. It does it when driving extremely sedately more so, but sometimes when you push it a bit too..
I'm hoping you can help because other than that we've got the car looking and driving beautifully
Both places plugged it into the diagnostic machine, but it returned no errors..

From what I've experienced from my '06, it's a normal occurrence and yes, it's annoying.

crazy - it's like a shove in the back! - i think i'll try flushing the system out to see if it helps..
