I HAVE A RELI BIG DESICION TO MAKE
Sorry Eltonsi, i realize that i directed all my disdain for "snobbery" at you when i was just unhappy with your comment. That reference i made was a generalization, and not at you personally. and yes, had i been born yesterday, i would think that the internet was a very unfriendly place. My issue waswith negative attitude, and i don't feel as A3 owners, we should exert any "snobbery" on anyone (so forgive me Eltonsi). I honestly think the A3 was marketed towards recent college graduates, so thats who i expected to see with this car!
back to bid'ness! no open sky? I think you should give thata second thought! Not that much weight difference and very cool. 1 touch semi-open feature, fabric sunshade that can be closed with the roof open(can't be done with a standard sunroof),and the second panel for the rear passengers were an easy sell for me.
I do love my a3 but i've had many dsg misfires which have left me with instantaneous panic sessions in the middle of dangerous intersections. Also, with that hypothetical race you spoke of, the dsg (touted for its swiftness) will cause u to lose some time...trust me, i know!
L7-no i didn't hear about the DC area gtg, any details?

[align=center]how much more weight with the opensky are we talking here? weight robs alot of power

true. but it can't be that much...i even think those numbers were posted on this forum. Anyway, I think you should drive both and see for yourself.
really, the open sky isan execellent feature, especially if u have a nice light color (silver or white). the entire roof is black and i think it is a nice contrast to the rest of the body. imagine the possibilites. reworking the computer so u can close the roof and windows from the remote...excellent!
to each his own...but it would be nice!

Hi audiismypassion-
In that case you could always opt for a 2007 2.0 S-Line, Navigation, Technology Package, Cold Weather Package, Sirius radio, 18" wheels, and Premium Leather upgrade and have your preferred performance shop chip it right away. You think you'll have this car ordered from the dealership during April at this point? You also might want to consider an Audi S4 or even RS4 for increased power without need for aftermarket modification.

o and no s4 or anything else for me.. i want an A3
cool. If you are able, i wouldn't sacrifice on the options. to paraphrase Chef: you won't save that much money going without up front and then adding on later. i like my premium but sometimes i wish i had the heated seats and the navigation w/bose...the non bose stereo isa little weak. congrats on your new car!
getting back to the DSG. i have it on mine, and it's fun, really fun. the downshifts are amazing, feels like you are in a racecar.
i do have to agree that sometimes the DSG hesitates (mostly while accelerating); but to me it only happen in midst of chaning from D to +/-. sorta like the transmission doesn't know who's shifting anymore (itself or me).
couple of things i noticed about the DSG, in N it revs only to 4K. i never tried to drop fron N to D while flooring it. might not be that good for the tranny. the GTI has launch controle, perhaps the audi will to (or it might be simple tranny reflash, i guess just like the ECU).
Does anybody know if there is a way to put the car in N while in the manual shift mode of the DSG?
I have to opensky and i agree with Ghanaboi, it's a nice touch. it might add weight, but it's not like we are racing around a track. beware however, that if you are tall (i'm 6'3") you will have little head clearance.
great car, what are you thinking of getting? i have brilliant red and i agree with ghanaboi, the black open sky roof does look good with a lighter color (white looks really racey)
good luck. when you order the car you might want to get the maintenance program too. it's $600 an covers all maintenance till 50K miles

Hi audiismypassion-
Installing factory options now will increase vehicle flexibility compared to aftermarket and they will all be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The larger 18" rims offered by the factory are beautiful and you know they won't rub inside the tirewells. You'll have to step-up to the 3.2 S-Line model to obtain the desirable Sirius radio option. If I were you, I would seriously consider Sirius because you never know where you'll be living two or three years from now. If you're way out in the country, you might not even get regular signals. Navigation will get you around without hassle. Technology Package will give you the best lighting and telephone convenience. Cold Weather heated seats coupled with Premium Leather upgrade will likely help your social life with the ladies. You can decide on Open Sky later. Enjoy the new whip.
