Looking to buy 2008 A3
with 88K miles. Autoatic, Base Version.
Wondering if I should be aware of anything. The car looks to be in good condition.
Are A3 reliable esp 2008 model ?
I like Audi A3 HatchBack thus inclined to this.
Let me know if any specific year model is better as well as options.
Thnks in advance.

I think the 2008 and up A3 versions are more reliable than older ones. In the 2006 + 2007 they used a 2.0t FSI engine while in the models after they switched to TFSI models because of the Cam and reliability issues. Considering they still have them around - they must be reliable.
The only thing I would worry about is if you get a CVT transmission. If you get front wheel drive and automatic -beware of transmission issues. If you have the option go for the Quattro model. It will have better in handling and acceleration due to 4 wheels pushing you along. The Front wheel model does have less curb weight and therefore can actually go "faster" however as soon as you lose traction (and you will) the Quattro pulls away from the FWD models.
Another annoying thing is the AC in those models. They installed some pretty weak ones that also die quickly. Most Audi a3 8p models will have to replace the AC before they even hit 80k.

Thanks Sheldon,
This is a 2008 model so looks like engine wise I'd be fine.
This is automatic front wheel drive, so need to be aware of transmission issue
I am in southern c so weaker ac is not an issue.
A Quattro may be rare to find and bit expensive to my taste.
