My Check Engine Light Came on... but it says Canada Models and I am in the US???
I will upload the icon when I get a chance, but I lease a 2007 A3 from a dealer in NY... so
A) Why is my check engine malfunction light comming on??
B) Why is it the Canada model only icon?

I am away for the weekend about 150 miles away from home... all dealers are closed for memorial weekend so I can't bring it in for another few days and have about 150 miles left to drive before... am I ok?

I'm no expert but I had that same problem a few weeks ago(with the Canadian icon and all). If you can, I'd suggest you take it to Autozone for a free scan to see what the problem is. Mine said something about the oxygen sensor, which turned out to be nothing--after a day, the light went off. How many miles do you have on the car?

 

Those Canadians just keep popping up everywhere!

Wonder why it has a Canadian icon? Is the symbol a beaver eating at your engine?

Sorry, and no idea about the check light! If my ECU throws a code, I will be proud if it has a Canadian icon!

 

That's interesting. I'm having Canadian symbols as well. The other day, a lightbulb went out and I saw the Canadian symbol and now my washer fluid reservoir is leaking and I see this animated Canadian icon in my dash every day.
I got my A3 new in SoCal, btw.

 

What does the symbol look like? How do you know it's Canadian?

 

The symbol is in the pics he posted. The owner's manual shows that this symbol would appear on the Canadian models.

 

Unless it is blinking, then you're probably fine to drive the car without much worry. It could be an oxygen sensor, the gas cap wasn't tight enough, etc. If it is running fine, then keep on truckin! But, take it to the dealer as soon as possible after the weekend.

robert, I had the same problem here. 3 times in the past year. always the "canadian" model light. All 3 times it was the damn gas tank cover. Make sure you click it 3 times, once it went off within a few hours after clicking, once it took a few days. Dealer says the majority of times that light goes on is b/c of the gas cover, try it

 

Ah...my Euro-spec TDI has the same light.

Is this like South Park? Blame it on Canada!

 

Maybe your car is a democrat and it's trying to tell you something?
