Default My name says it all.

I've been looking into buying a 2007/08 audi a3. I know all of you are probably going to make fun of me because im going to sound like a total idiot right now. What does it mean when it has the name "Sportback"? You guys can make fun of me, Im ready for it.[sm=smiley4.gif]

In America, "sportback" doesn't refer to any particular line or trim.

I'm not sure about Europe though.

I believe the term Sportback is specific to the 4 door A3, so all A3s in the US are Sportbacks. In other markets, Audi offers both a 2 door and a 4 door. As d2mini stated, they use this term so the 4 door doesn't sound ghey, since it isn't a hatchback in the same sense that the 2 door is (better than calling it a wagon).

I've got a 2007 A3 3.2 S-line with a bunch of factory goodies that my insurer calls a "wagon" which I think is hilarious.
