Default Need an engine cover/air filter housing for 2006 A3

While getting ready to change plugs, filter, etc on my wife's A3, I had to wrestle with the engine cover for quite some time. Everything I read said that you have to pull it off, sometimes with a good bit of force. Well, I broke it in the left rear corner (near the turbo inlet). It would have been so easy to design this thing with 4 bolts, or some type of pin or clip on the outside of the cover so that it could be easily removed. Anyway, that's neither here not there at this point. My issue now if finding another cover. Not easy to come by online and the dealer wants $330 for it. Anyone know of a source where I could get it cheaper? Used if it's intact works also. Thanks in advance!

Can’t help with finding an inexpensive replacement but I have to say on an automobile with such great engineering and technology the engine cover attachment design is unbelievably poor.

sorry a liitle off topic, I picked up a used A3 that at 1 time had an after market intake. He have me the stock on. I went to install it since he took the aftermarket 1 off. You are telling me I have to snap it back on in place over the studs that are in the corners?

as for a solution to your broken intake, can you use some epoxy to re-glue the corner that broke off? I had to epoxy some stuff broken on this car and it works great. Or how about a after market intake? will run you about $300 vs a replacement original one.

I haven't found anything about a recall on A3 air intakes. Do you have link to it?

Also, I bought a new engine cover from Kyle - Fastvwaudiparts.
His price was great and the shipping was very quick! You can find his replies on this board.

You can also consult the local dealer or ebay is the best option.
