New A3 Sportback

We have just taken delivery of a new A3 Sportback - details are:
Model: 2.0T Quattro
Colour: DGM
Extras: Xenon+heated leather seats+light pack+rain pack

I took it was a drive on the M3 and noticed that I seem to be getting a whine at speeds above 65 MPH - I cant go above 80 MPH as I am still running the car in.

Is this the quattro that causing this whine or is it due to the fact that car is brand new?

Has anyone else had/have this problem?

By the way apart from that I am happy with the car - I did find one or two items that did disapoint me:

1) Lower door trim seems to made out a cheaper material than the rest of the trim around the cabin
2) The luggage net lugs in the boot seem to extensions of the bodywork - in my old A3 the these were chrome finished....
3) The small coin tray seems to be very flimsy

apart from that everything is very nice....

I have a A3 sportback 2.0 T manual quattro - it whines too.

Main problem in 5300 miles is Mad Indicator Disease. Indicate left -ok, return to mid position - indicates right, indicate right - ok, return to mid position - indicates left - and so on and so on.....

About 31 to the gallon on trip to Italy and France. As expected.

Handling and steering and gearbox a delight.

Well I took the car into the dealer to get the noise checked out - the technician who came out with me agreed that there was some sort of transmission noise between 65 mph and 80 mph - they suggested that this may be due to the car being new (has only done 250 miles to date) and that unless the noise goes away by 1000 miles I get the car booked in to be checked out.

I have also now had a chance to get to know the features of the car.

Good choice options:

Metalic paint (DGM)
Leather heated seats
Rear side window blinds (the rear one is standard with the car)
Xenon lights
Sat nav (cd version - ok it's not as good as the DVD version, but it's seems to work anyway)
Rain and light pack (turns on the wipers and headlights automatically)

Not such good options:

Multi-function steering wheel - it only controls volume and next track... there are sufficient controls to be able to change the source (radio, cassette, CD) but Audi have not implemented it...

Options I wish I had got but didnt:

Interor light pack
Storage pack - there is hardly anywhere to put stuff

But apart from that and the other items I mentioned - very happy with the car....

RE: New A3 Sportback

WHILE we are on the subject of comparison in cars, how about comparing the new A3 2.0T to the TT 1.8T. Any one test drive both cars? As far as mods are concerned, which is the better buy? AS for stock hp and torque, and price as well, both are about equals... am I correct? Personally, I like the A3 look better than the TT. Any takers???
