Hello,
My name is Larry and I’m a car freak and also a 33yr young engineer that's new to this forum and Audi's. I've really had my heart set on a 600whp new Stang project car but reality started to knock on my door in the form of my wife, 2yr old daughter and the threat of divorce papers.

I’ve been looking around at allot of different cars and really like the Audi A3. My wife likes it and it's a good family guys compromise between a sporty car and functionality.

I've just read the new C&D issue and they gave a rather favorable review to the A3, which was a bone stock version.
I plan to get;
A3 Lava Gray Pearl
6speed man
Sport pack.
Open sky system
Xenon HID Headlights

Some q's
C&D mentioned in their article that one of the great advantages of FSI is its ability to run leaner air-to-fuel ratios. (=More HP)
Unfortunately due to the high sulfur content of US fuels the US A3 will run Pig rich robbing HP and the total advantage of FSI.
I am assuming there is some sort of chip update or flash that will fix this travesty and maybe bump up the boost slightly.

1. How is the program modified on A3's (chip replacement, piggyback, flash or do you have to mail out factory one to get soldered)?

2. What are best guesses on the HP the B7 can hold reliably. Is 260-300bhp out of range? I'm assuming that with a 10.3:1 compr ratio and 11.4 psi of boost that most of the rotating assy is forged. (pistons, rods, crank)

3. What are the most popular mods (HP, not rims or neon’s). Possible net gains out of them?

4. I'm also an audio freak so I would like to know what size speakers and locations to help me out in planning my system.
I'll most likely put or modify to fit my 6.5 Boston Acoustic pros for the front and my alpine HU in dash and everything else is still up in the air.

1) the program is modified by flash. The older models are a solder in chip.

2) not sure on what HP it could hold reliably but I would go with a k04 upgarde turbo kit and it will get you up there in horse and should be ok

3)The best mod handsdown is a chip upgrade most give yu 50 hp and about 80lbs of torque. Exhaust will give you a little bit and you will need an upgarded dv

4)dont know what size speakers are were but hope this helps oout

skidplatexa, is there a ko4 kit already avial that you know of cause i will buy asap. im not used to so little horsepower and im bored with minw aready, i need to do some mods quick im having withdrawls
