Novice questions about Auidi A3.
 

Hello,
I plan to buy Audi A3 (11/2003) from a guy, and I have some questions that only pros can answer me:
1. What is the difference of Audi A3 models? (Compact, Sportback, Sport)
2. What year was the last redesign of Audi A3 model?
3. The first registration of this car is 11/2003. Is this the last model in design or there are newer?
4. Is is possible (using the serial number, or something else, I don't know) to determinate what are the performances of this specified Audi car?
5. Is there Audi A3 TD(i) with RED "i"?
6. What does the red "i" means, except more HP?

Congratulations for considering an Audi. The A3 is a great model that has a nice combination of Luxury, Affordability and Power, not to mention more room than other models.



History of the car and its introduction into the US (Not sure where you are from) and some basic information about the different variants of the A3 as well as alot of detailed information concerning performance and pricing.

There are only two models in the US, the 2.0T and the 3.2 Quattro. I have never heard of an "i", it may be a European model.

UPDATE, Just found some pics of the "i" model from a 2003 Car show. But not much else, sorry i couldnt help with that part.

I'm from Macedonia, Europe and I guess no A3 with red "i".
I finally managed to determinate that its the S-line before facelift.:D

I love my A3, but people like me from the states can't help you to much since they didn't ship A3's to the states until 2006. The 8L model is a bit different then our 8p models.
A3 was first designed in 1996.
Depends on the year of the A3 what motors it may have, 2006 and up have ether 2.0t or 3.2 or tdi.
8L's had 1.8t and a 1.6 i think.
Sport models are lowered 15mm lower then other A3's.
We dont get the S3 in the states so cant help u out there. Just google your questions, you will find all the answers you need.
Ps, Vw owns part of Audi so alot of the motors they use in there cars are in A3's too, like the 1.8t and 2.0t, also suspension depending on the model.
