I have 2500 miles now and my dip stickshows at the half way point which indicates oil can be added. How much can be addedwith out overfilling?

 

Typically the hash marks on the dipstick indicate "Full" and "1 Quart Low". If you're showing half way between the hash marks, then you're half of a quart low.

It appears things must be breaking in quite well if that's been the onlyoil reduction so far, Yes? Would this loss be normal at this point with oil setting into areas of the newengine or just plain consumption?

 

I'm thinking consumption, especially in light of the fact that your engine isn't really broken in yet. That said, given that you're consuming oil at the rate of a single quart per 5,000 miles, I'm thinking that your engine is bang-on exactly where it should be at this stage of the game.
