Got mine on Ebay. Complete kit with 20 GB cartridge, the software, and the VW cable, all for about $225.

 

I pulled out the tray located inside the compartment (in front of the left passenger seat).
However, I was not able to find the cable..
Is it b/c I do not have cd changer option (base model)?
or can I find this somewhere in the vehicle?
Please let me know.

Did you pulledthe compartement UNDER the passenger seat?it's definatly not there man...

its in glove box...have youcheck "zysurge" link? it show clearly the connector snaped behing the little tray in the glove box

 

Sorry but I guess I misposted the message..
Yes, I pulled the tray IN the glove box. However, I was not able to find the cable that "zysurge" link showed.
So... that was why I was wondering if you needed to have the CD-changer or factory audio system that is "better" than the base one.

Withouttaking the time to go look at the link or do any additional research, I want to say that there is a difference between 06 models and later models. I think the 06's have that cable already there.

Again, I did not take time to look at the link or do any other additional research so anything that I am saying here is purely from (my sometimes unreliable) memory.

I have a 2006 a3 without the cd changer (in dash or in trunk) I have the concert with single CD . What years is yours and what radio is instaled in it?


So, there was no cable attached behind the small compartement? I just pulled a bit and it un-snaped from the rear of the plastic thing, connected the phatnoise cable and done.

 

I have an'07 A3 with the base stereo (Audi Concert, single DIN, single CD) and no CD changer. There was no cable behind the left compartment in my glove box. I pulled it to feed an iPod connector through.

Glad to hear it worked for you. I love mine - I just need a bigger cartridge!
