Default Question about OEM front S-Line shocks

For those of you that have swapped them out or ran across this, has anyone noticed an indentation on the wheel side of the shock bodies? My original thoughts are that they were designed that way, to allow for strut/wheel clearance, but just wanted to get some more opinions. They seem fairly consistent in their dimensions, but I just want to be sure I'm not going crazy and getting some kind of rediculous strut rub (though I would have heard it by now).

Do new shocks like FSDs have this same indentation?

Would anyone be kind enough to turn their steering wheel and feel around the shock body to see if they also have this indentation? Thanks much
