Raced Lancer Evo
 

I was turning on to Sunset Blvd eastbound from Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles) earlier tonight when a black Evo rolls past. Couldn't see the badging on the back, but the big rear deck wing was unmistakeable. Looked fairly new. My white A3 has the full Oettinger kit and S3 18" rims, so he spotted me right away. No sooner had I pulled out behind him than game on. He took off into the banked twisties like a scalded cat and I couldn't resist chasing him. My car has the Neuspeed chip, Jetex quad exhaust, sport suspension with Neuspeed springs, etc, so I was very pleasantly surprised that I was able to keep up with him. We went for about 2 miles giving engines and suspensions a full workout. This car is new for me (only a few weeks) so i dont yet know what the cornering limits are, but I think I could have gone even faster into the banked turns and gained on him there. As it was, he couldn't shake me at all. That really put a smile on my face...those Evos are supposed to be very fast.

must have beena bone stock evo....if you so much as fart on an evo it will rip an decently modded a3 a new butthole. especially in twisties.

I just so happen to own both! A 2006 A3 2.0T DSG and an Evo IX MR BR350.(I had a bone stock Evo prior). I gotta tell you, I think he was just playing around man. Don't get me wrong, the A3 does have some kick , and mods can add nicely to the performance, but it's just not in the same performance class as an Evo. My stock Evo would smoke my B7 S4 ( and I mean put it to shame). Evo will do 0-60mph in about 4.7-4.8 sec (stock).
That's faster than an M3. Anyways, still sounds like you have a finely tuned machine. I wonder about driver skill too. You may just be a better driver than that other guy. I know a lot of rich high school kids get Evos and end up destroying them because it's too much power and they can't drive worth a darn.

especially true considering a very lightly modded evo with the right driver can whallop on 911 Turbo's. A3, S3, S4, probably even an RS4 dont stand a chance.

I just dont like the interior of the evo... looks too much like my wife's ralliart. [:'(]

Now, if the next gen evo looks like they say it will... I'm sold

Check out some PICS of the EVO X from NAIAS!!! They say it's gonna be priced about the same as the IX , but I don't quite believe them.

A buddy of mine has an evo it's just about finished being tuned, they had a problem with the turbo and had to send it back to garret but check it out... on the right hand side of the page 900whp evo 8(it actually dynoed much higher than that with themessed up turboturbo and no nitrous run.

I got a quick glance at the driver...a young guy, looked early20s. I'm guessing it was a bone-stock car he was driving and that he was perhaps not as bold a driver as he could have been. But still, while he pulled on me a little on some straights, it was not dramatic and I was happy to be able to keep the pressure on. I just wish I had some beefier brakes...stock ones I have aren't on a par with my other mods.
