Rear washer problem

HI,

I have a 2001 A3 Quattro and have a problem with my rear washer not working. I took the inside boot trim off and pulled the hose off the jet to see whether the jet was blocked but still got no water out of the pipe when I tried to squirt the washer. I also pulled the pipe off from the motor on the washer bottle and tried again and did get it spraying from the motor, so the motor end is fine. I reconnected the motor and held the washer on for an extended period of time to see if water came out anywhere and found that it was coming out from my N/S/R quarter panel. I took the back bumper and trim off and there is a section between the outside quarter panel skin and the metal inside of the boot that is filling up with washer fluid so I can only assume that somewhere between the panels the pipe has split or come disconnected.

Can anyone tell me how to get at the pipe in there? It looks as though I would have to take out the Bose system from the inside of the boot and strip the carpet etc out from behind that, but to get the Bose system out it looks as though you need to take half of the boot apart. Is there an easy way of doing this or is there a common point somewhere around there that the pipe disconnects at?

Any help would be appreciated,

Mark

RE: Rear washer problem

hi if u pop the bonnet on the passenger side above the airbox towards the windscreen you will find a plastic black oblong shaped box with clips either side.if you remove the cover on this box you will find a connector for the washer pipes this will have probably disconnected its self.to get to this you will have to remove the airbox and possibly the battery

Hi i've got exactly the same problem. The hose had come off under the air box but i fixed that. I now have the same reported problem as postformac! The water is now dribbling out from the passenger side rear quarter. I'll have to buy a haynes manual to see if i can figure out how to get at it!
