Replacement headunit...
Hi,
I'm looking to fit the Pioneer DEH-P9800BT (Fig1) to an Audi A3 56 plate (Fig2).
Car is fitted with just the standard audio system (Concert Headunit) without the Bose system.
(Fig3) Wiring harness' that came with the headunit
I'm not sure which harness to purchase, I've been advised to purchase the PC9-401, if anyone could shed any light on this, would be most appreciated.
If someone has already done this or has instruction on howto do thisplease let me know
Cheers,
Matrin

RE: Replacement headunit...
I am about to replace my head unit as well. It sounds like I've got the same stock unit as you, single DIN Concert, no Bose. The way this system is set up, the front speakers are powered by the head unit, the rears and sub run off of an amp which is fed a line level signal from the head unit. I had a hard time finding any harnesses for the A3, so after talking with a dude from Metra, he has advised me that the Metra harness no. 70-1787will work. I've got one ordered and I should have it installed no later than next week. I'll let you know how it turns out.
As for fitting the Pioneer into the stock opening, www.vagparts.com has a single DIN dash adapter that matches the factory color and texture.
On another note, does anyone know wtf that yellow plug is in the back of the stock unit? It looks like a satellite radio antenna plug, but the sat tuner is in the rear of the car.
